Remote operations: hints, issues, next steps
My first far-far away DXpedition 🙂
I escaped Almaty to avoid the noise of the large city. However, the bands of 14 MHz and below have been very noisy for me. I searched for the source of the noise and found it
Inverter-generators for field operations turned out to be very electromagnetically noisy. But there is a solution
Simple questions with deep answers
The second DXexpedition to Issyk Kul. Now also with 20-meter Moxon and PA
I wanted a stronger TX power for quite some time. Moxon antenna works good enough to hear remote station. But I wasn't not heard well with the default 100 W... Well, now everything looks much better TX-wise 🙂
Expedition to the lake Issyk Kul with freshly received callsign EX/OH7O. Yurt camp right on the shore, new Moxon for 15-meter band, many QSOs.
I love the vertical 1/4-wave antenna for mobile operations for the DX performance and its practicality. However, the gain of Moxon and its relative simplicity disarming. I love Moxon!
Playing with a magnetic loop antenna for 14-21MHz. Comparison with a raised vertical quarter-wave.
Setting up the system, tuning, testing, and tuning, modifying, experimenting, and testing again is one of the main funs for me
It was easy and took just 24 hours for me to get the local temporary license. Most likely, it is possible for you to get it as well even on a short visit
The best birthday is a field day 🙂 It was 70 km north of Almaty, Kazakhstan, near Kapchagay Reservoir.
Return to the plateau Assy and an observatory - now with my wife Natalia, new antenna, and a drone.
Expedition to plateau Assy and an observatory there: my first ever field day and first ever QSOs using UN/OH7O.
